This icon for the international community of chemists and molecular scientists is designed as a high-tech "cabinet of curiosities," reflecting the intersection of the Victorian Era and the world of Modernity. Installed in a newly renovated nineteenth-century bank, the exhibitions explore the technologies, tools, and instruments that have enabled us to decipher the building blocks of the universe, manipulate matter, and create new materials for the benefit of mankind. The exhibition icon is a 20-foot-high multiscreen video display called the Media Column, a sort of Periodic Table, serving as an index to the experience that unfolds around it. An interactive program on the opposite side of the Column provides insight into the foundation's research and collections.
